Open Space and Recreation Plan
The Open Space Committee is currently working with the Recreation Committee and the Planning Department to update Newbury's Open Space and Recreation plan.
What is an Open Space and Recreation Plan?
An Open Space and Recreation Plan is a plan that helps a community assess and guide the future of its conservation and recreation land. A plan is created through community engagement and reflect the needs of the individual community. In Massachusetts, a town's Open Space and Recreation Plan is valid for seven years, and means the community is eligible for State funding for open space and recreation projects. The State provides a Workbook for assisting a community in updating an Open Space & Rec Plan. For more information visit the Massachusetts Open Space and Recreation Plans Website.
The Town's current Open Space and Recreation Plan was completed and officially approved by the State in August 2010.
