NEWBURY -- Select Board Chair Alicia Greco recently represented the Town at a regional meeting where Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll heard about challenges and concerns from municipal officials throughout the region.

During the two-hour session on Oct. 13 at the Reading Public Library, officials discussed topics including financial processes and state requirements, procurement laws, recruitment and retention, pension obligations, and technology and cybersecurity.

Officials also talked about local municipal operations, such as health and human services, public safety, public works and transportation, housing, climate resiliency, and transparency.

Officials then met in groups with those from other communities who share similar interests or issues.

The regional meetings are designed to solicit feedback on current state laws and functions, to share ideas for ways to improve, and to share best practices for municipal functions.
