Local Historic District Study Committee

Mission Statement: The duly appointed Newbury Lower Green Local Historic District Study Committee is responsible for conducting an investigation to determine the desirability and feasibility of establishing a local historic district inclusive of the Newbury Lower Green considering the historic significance of all buildings, structures, features, sites or surroundings that would be included in such proposed local historic district.

Purpose & Goals: To protect the historic Newbury Lower Green and the natural and built environment surrounding it for future generations to enjoy and experience the visual sense of the past history of our town.  A Lower Green local historic district will create neighborhood stabilization and community pride, and forever provide Newbury schoolchildren with a playing field and educational opportunities.  The intent of this local historic district is to maintain and improve the settings of those buildings and places and to encourage new designs compatible with existing buildings in the district.
