Newbury restoration projects highlighted by MA DER

In the Winter 2022 publication of the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration's "Ebb & Flow" newsletter, several restoration projects right here in Newbury were highlighted. Designated as a Priority Project by DER's Priority Projects Program, one article mentions the Larkin Dam removal project which will help to restore fish passage, water quality, aquatic habitat connectivity, and natural riverine sediment regimes to the Parker River. Another article highlights the salt marsh restoration project at Kent's Island in the William Forward Wildlife Management area. This project replaced a bridge over Kent's Island Creek and helped to restore proper tidal flow to 47 acres of salt marsh.
