Children's Resources

Please remember to practice outdoor safety when participating in outdoor activities. Wear sun protection gear and sunscreen, use bug repellant, and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Check the weather before heading out, and familiarize yourself with visitor information about the locations you plan to visit. Be prepared with snacks and drinking water, and make sure you're staying hydrated, especially when it's hot. Develop safety plans by always letting someone know where you're going, when you're leaving, and when you'll be back. Stay alert, be aware of your surroundings, and be courteous of other visitors. Practice "Leave No Trace" skills - take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints! Stay on marked paths and trails, and always follow trail/park rules. Never disturb or approach wildlife, only view from a safe distance. Always accompany children when playing outside, and make sure to practice water safety when near any body of water. If you have an emergency, call 911 immediately!
