Town Clerk

Mission
The Town Clerk is the official record keeper for Town Meeting, Vital Records, and oversees all Elections to ensure they are held in accordance with all state and federal laws.  This office responds to inquiries from the public as well as from other departments, boards and committees. The Clerk's Office issues state licenses and permits, including marriage licenses, shellfish/crab/eel permits, dog licenses, fuel storage licenses, business certificates and renewals, and certified requests for public documents.  The Town Clerk's Office administers the oaths of office and maintains appointments and resignations of all Town Officials.  The Town Clerk's Office is often considered the doorway to  local government.
