Friends of the Newbury Council on Aging
The Friends of the Newbury C.O.A. is a nonprofit 501©3 organization formed to support and enhance the programs and activities of the Council on Aging. The Friends primary purpose is to raise money through membership dues, donations, fund raising events, grant writing, and to receive gifts and bequests. Without these funds, some of the classes and activities available at the Senior Center would not be possible.
Two current Friends fund raisers:
The 6th Annual Friends Craft Fair takes place Saturday October 27, 2007 at the Elks Hall on Low Street in Newburyport. Tables are available for $15 prior to September 30th ($20 thereafter). The Friends will soon be canvassing for donations for the Silent Auction and for volunteers to help with the baking, cooking, and assistance on the day of the Fair. Contact Friends President Karen Mansur for more information.
Newbury Stuff by Stanley Price has just been published by the Friends and is available for only $15 from the C.O.A. Office, the Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, or from any member of the Friends Board of Directors. Newbury Stuff is an eclectic collection of history, poetry, drawings, maps, and local lore by the late Stanley Price, long time Newbury resident and former historian for the Newburyport Post Office.
Annual membership dues are $10 and everyone, regardless of home town or age, is encouraged to join the Friends to support the mission of the Newbury Council on Aging.
